About YSU IEEE |
|
A non-profit organization, IEEE is the world’s leading and largest professional association for the advancement of technology worldwide.
The IEEE name was originally an acronym for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. Today, the organization’s scope of interest has expanded into so many related fields, that it is simply referred to by the letters I-E-E-E (pronounced Eye-triple-E).
Most IEEE members are electrical engineers, computer engineers, and computer scientists, but organization’s wide scope of interests has attracted engineers inother disciplines (e.g., mechanical and civil) as well as biologists, physicists, and mathematicians.

The Youngstown State University Chapter was formed in 1963.
YSU IEEE is an approved student organization through the student activities. Meetings are monthly where food is provided. YSU IEEE invites people from industry to lecture about today’s engineering world and tours of carious companies employing engineers. We also organize workshops from learning how to use a TI-89 to learning basic Programmable Logic Controllers (or PLC, for short) |
