Most of you had a correct document on both ZOHO writer and Wetpaint Wiki. Also, most of you correctly linked these two location of your comparison document on your individual blog page as well as on the group web page. However, when it came to selecting an editor most of you decided to choose MS word without providing a solid reason except that it had more features, it is easily available and you have been using it for a while.

MS office does not have collaborative features. In fact it is not fair to compare it with other programs because other programs were designed for collaborative writing and MS Office was not. To make the comparison fair you need MS Office+ MS Office Live My guess is that MS Office live is really Groove that is repackaged as MS Office Live. Also Google Docs are improving fast. You can insert videos into it from youtube and many other things from Internet will become insert-able into Google docs in the future. At this point it is hard to say who will become a good general purpose word processor. This is first serious challenge to MS office dominance.

Most of you managed to sign up for social networking web sites. For this Learning unit the new ones were LinkedIN, Pownce, and Friendfeed. All these web sites offer unique mixture of features to act as a social networking web site. Most of You chose Facebook. It is easy to use and currently has the momentum. But what happens if you decide to move to better network in the future. Facebook imports all the personal information from other social networking web site but it does not allow any personal information that could be exported out to other networks. If you move you will have to recreate the entire personal information again.  You may also run into problems described in this article with no help from Facebook support.

We need to think about data portability and some kind of inter connection between these social networks.  They all talk about connectivity. How about a little connectivity between themselves like you saw at Friendfeed. You can import information in Friendfeed from multiple information sources and then you can export this information in different places. Like you can add a facebook application to your profile that will provide all your activity collected by Friendfeed into your Facebook profile page. Also, the attempt by other companies to create open social application programming interface is an step in the right direction. This way no one information provider can control all the user data. None of you provided an answer that considers these issues. A comparison between different social networking web sites is also in this presentation. It is more marketing oriented but still worth looking into.

The use of three web sites del.icio.us, stumble upon and digg is to introduce social book marking. It is an important topic and  you all need to read this article to get an ides why it is important.

You should consider your blog web site as the central web site and that website should have links to all other web sites created by you. Some of you did not provide the web site addresses for three social networking web sites and the three profiles you all created at the social book marking web site. It is possible to track down all your web sites but Some of you lost points as a reminder that you are creating a information resource and every thing within this information resource should be accessible. It is like a portfolio that will stay with you even after the class is over.

The activity at these websites was highly variable. Some of you did lot of searching and some of you just signed up.

If you notice any mistake please make the appropriate correction. In the future I will be using that page to get to your websites if the address is wrong then your website will become inaccessible. For some of you I had to go to Facebook then go to your notes and from facebook notes I went to your blog to find out that for some of you another six web addresses are missing. We will be adding more web sites in the coming weeks and it becomes extremely important to keep all the access information to these website with in easy reach.

Finally, those of you who did not get good grade or lost points please look at the blog of the students who receive good grades. This will provide you the information you need to improve your own work.
