2600. Explorations in the Sciences. Student investigations in the natural sciences using a variety of laboratory approaches focusedon a single theme or concept; a multidisciplinary study from three of the following science areas (biology, chemistry, physical geography, geology, physics, astronomy, environmental science) segmented into three five-week units (6 hrs/wk including 2 to 3 hours of instruction). 4 s.h.
Attendance Policy. Class attendance is required. Three unexcused absences in a course that meets three times per week will result in a failing grade for the module or two unexcused absences in a course that meets two times per week will result in a failing grade for the module. If a student fails one module they fail the entire course (all three modules). It is the responsibility of the student to make sure that they are attending the correct section of the course before the end of the third class period for classes that meet three times per week or the second class period for classes that meet two times per week. If a student realizes after these class periods that they are in the incorrect section the student will not be permitted to go into the correct section and will have enough unexcused absences to fail the module and the course. Unavoidable, extenuating circumstances (such as severe illness and emergencies) and pre-arranged absences for YSU activities are the only circumstances that will be considered as an excused absence and the student will be permitted to make-up assignments on a case-by-case basis as determined by the instructor of the module. You must notify the instructor (by email, phone, or note) as soon as possible and documentation to verify the circumstances will be required.
